What Makes a Macher
Speaker: Daniel Roberts - Fortune Magazine

Daniel Roberts has been on the staff of Fortune Magazine since 2010 and is currently the lead reporter on the magazine’s 40 Under 40 Franchise. Roberts is also the primary author of the new Fortune book “Zoom: Surprising Ways to Supercharge Your Career.”  In this role, Roberts has had the opportunity to meet, interview, and learn from some of the most influential young leaders in the United States including Kevin Plank of Under Armour, Tony Hsieh of Zappos, and Marissa Mayer of Yahoo. Join us in this session to learn what about these incredible leaders makes them so successful.  And how YOU can translate that into your volunteer roles.

Storytelling for Social Change
Speaker: Andrew Linderman - Brooklyn Brainery

In this session, we’ll take TribeFest leaders through the creative process to mine their lives for stories in a fun and supportive environment.   In the first half of the workshop, participants will learn techniques to enhance listening and improve interpersonal communication through storytelling.  In the second half of the workshop, participants will put these skills into practice with writing exercises and oral storytelling in a group setting. By the end of the workshop, all participants will have at least one story to share in a variety of settings and a deeper understanding of how to use stories to connect with community members and fellow leaders alike.

The Incredible Experience of a Mission...Right in Your Own Background

We all know there’s nothing like a mission to tug on the heartstrings and jumpstart someone’s involvement in Federation.  But getting someone on a mission can be tough.  There are schedules to work around, it’s hard to take off from work, and they can be cost prohibitive for many people.  But one of the great things about Federation is that we provide services all over the world AND in our own backyards.  In this session, you’ll learn how to design an immersive experience right in your own community. You’ll learn methods for creating and recruiting for mini-missions and other events that will inspire and engage.

The Whole is Greater than the Sum of Its Parts - Why We Need to be Collaborative

With so many organizations vying for the attention of the unattainable NextGeners, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly competing for people, dollars, and resources.  But it doesn’t have to be that way.  In this session, we’ll discuss two different but equally as successful models of collaboration.  We’ll discuss why collaboration was so important in these two communities, what types of challenges needed to be overcome (and how they overcame them!), and what tools they used that you can take back to your home community.

What is LDI?

Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is a companion program to TribeFest that will run from 9am to 2pm on Sunday, March 16 at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans.  LDI will end in time for participants to attend TribeFest’s Opening Main Stage.

Who should go to LDI?

LDI is open to all young leaders ages 22-45 seeking to advance their skills and passions and build their network. 

Does LDI continue throughout the TribeFest program?

Yes! Throughout TribeFest there will be additional opportunities to connect, network, and learn with other LDI participants including an LDI recommended track which will be open to all TribeFest participants but geared towards more advanced lay-leaders.

Can I go to LDI if I’m not attending TribeFest?

Yes! You can register just for LDI or along with TribeFest

How much does LDI cost?

Registration for LDI is $120

Can I get a subsidy?

Many communities are offering LDI subsidies, so be in touch with your local professional.
